ROAD CLOSURES -
Inland Road (Between State Highway 1 at Kaikoura and north of the Mt Lyford Ski Field).
Latest Update Wed 27 August 2008 5pm: Remedial construction on the Inland Road is underway and it is hoped that the road will be open to single lane, general traffic at the earliest 9th September. The Mt Lyford Lodge and Mt Lyford Ski field area are still accessable via Waiau. An alternative route to Waiau & Hanmer Springs (if travelling from the north) can be taken via the Leader Road, north of Cheviot.
SH1 - Cheviot to Kaikoura
Latest Update Thurs 28 August 4.45pm: now open but drive with care as there are workers on the road.
SH7A - access to Hanmer Springs.
Latest Update Thurs 28 August 4.45pm: is now open however the road will be closed between 10am - 2pm Friday 29 August.
Hanmer Springs Forest
All walking tracks in the Hanmer Forest are now open and shall remain open for the forseeable future.

St James Walkway - Lewis Pass
Is currently closed due to high avalanche risk. With more snowfall predicted it is likely to remain closed for at least 2 weeks, but is highly likely to be closed for longer.
Molesworth Road
The Acheron Road through Molesworth Station is currently closed. Anyone wanting to find out about access should call the DOC South Marlborough Area Office, phone +64 3 572 9100.
Rainbow Road
The 4WD toll connecting St Arnaud to Hanmer Springs has closed for the season.

The waters of Te Waikoropupu Springs are closed to all forms of contact, to prevent the introduction of the invasive alga Didymo and other aquatic pests. However the Te Waikoropupu Springs Scenic Reserve remains open for visitors to view the springs. Please read this notice
