
ROAD CLOSURE - Inland Road (Between State Highway 1 at Kaikoura and north of the Mt Lyford Ski Field).
Latest Update Wednesday 27 August 2008: Remedial construction on the Inland Road is underway and it is hoped that the road will be open to single lane, general traffic at the earliest on 9th September. The Mt Lyford Lodge and Mt Lyford Ski Field area are still accessable via Waiau. An alternative route to Waiau & Hanmer Springs (when travelling from the north) can be taken via the Leader Road, north of Cheviot.
A year round destination, Mount Lyford Alpine Resort offers a total skiable area of 400 acres over Mt Terako with terrain suitable for all levels of skier and snowboarder and views to the Pacific Ocean. Facilities include t-bar, poma tows, a fixed grip tow and a rope tow, as well as ski-hire and a cafe. Helisking, paragliding and 4WD tours are also available.
