Amberley & Leithfield

HIGHLIGHTS

Amberley is a bustling rural town and great place to explore the cafes, crafts and coastline. Named after Amberley in Derbyshire, the area offers a range of country bed and breakfast, farmstay and motel accommodation options which have proliferated in conjunction with the development of the nearby Waipara Valley wine region. It is ideal as a country retreat for a few days, with golf course, beach walks and its a network of scenic walkways at nearby Mt Grey and Lake Janet.

Leithfield is a small country village with a long European history. Founded in 1857, Leithfield is one of the oldest townships in North Canterbury. A great country pub, the Old Leithfield, displays a range of antiques from Canterbury as well as being the centre of the village. There is a fabulous walk, known as the Kowai Walkway, from the Old Leithfield to the coastal settlement of Leithfield Beach.
